Why Vando
Everything in one place, and nothing that opens all of it. Today you have a few master keys without knowing it; Vando takes them away.
Your master keys today
You never chose a master key, but you probably have three:
- Your email. Almost every account has “Forgot password?”, and the link lands in your inbox. Whoever gets into your email can reset nearly everything else.
- Your browser. Chrome keeps your saved passwords and is signed in to your Google account, which is often your email too. An unlocked laptop, or your Google sign-in, gives away the passwords and very likely the inbox. The inbox resets whatever wasn’t saved.
- Your phone’s passcode. It opens your email app, your saved passwords and the app that makes your login codes. It’s six digits, and people watch you type it.
Each one leads to the others. Get one, and the rest follow.
Follow the chain
| Someone gets… | Today | With Vando |
|---|---|---|
| Your phone and its passcode | Your email, your saved passwords and your login codes, so everything | What you put on Easy, like Netflix. Your email, bank and codes still need your fingerprint or face, and Fort Knox needs your security key as well |
| Your unlocked laptop | Every password Chrome saved, and usually your inbox | Logins the extension can’t fill without asking your phone (only Easy ones fill by themselves, during a trust window you turned on). The laptop holds no keys |
| Your email | A reset link for nearly every account | No way into Vando: there is no reset email. The password and codes for the accounts that matter are in Vando, not in the inbox |
| One leaked password | That account, and every other one where you used the same password | That account. Nothing in Vando opens with it |
What changes
- Opening the app opens nothing important. Each thing has its own lock: Netflix opens, your email asks for your fingerprint or face, your bank asks for your security key too.
- Your laptop and your AI ask your phone. They hold no keys, so stealing one doesn’t get you in. Devices.
- No reset email opens Vando. Getting back in takes your other phone or your recovery kit, with a 48-hour wait that every device of yours hears about.
- The keys to your email live in Vando, behind a stronger lock than the rest. So your email stops being the way into everything.
What it doesn’t change
- Websites still send reset links to your inbox. Vando can’t stop that. It makes your inbox much harder to get into, which is what keeps the links safe.
- A signed-in tab is already open. If someone sits at your laptop with your email open in Chrome, Vando can’t sign them out. Lock your laptop when you walk away.
- Other password managers also avoid the reset email. The difference is what happens once they’re open: usually everything inside is open too. In Vando, the things that matter stay shut until you prove it’s you for each one.
More of the limits, in plain words: What we cannot promise.
